A new holiday adventure arrives just in time for the season as Disney releases a clip from An Almost Christmas Story, directed by David Lowery and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. The animated short, inspired by the true story of a tiny owl rescued from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in 2020, will be available to stream on Disney+ starting Friday, Nov. 15.
In this final installment of Cuarón’s holiday shorts collection for Disney+, An Almost Christmas Story follows Moon, a young, wide-eyed owl who unexpectedly finds himself nestled in a giant Christmas tree bound for New York City’s iconic Rockefeller Plaza. Along the way, Moon encounters a lost little girl named Luna, and together they embark on a heartfelt journey to find their way home.
Lowery and Cuarón have created a compelling, family-friendly story that captures the joy of unexpected friendships and the warmth of holiday magic. Cuarón’s holiday collection began with Le Pupille, a short that earned an Academy Award® nomination in 2022, followed by last year’s The Shepherd, which was shortlisted for the Oscars, establishing Cuarón’s collection as a new holiday tradition on Disney+.
