I don’t think it’ll come as a surprise to anyone, but Disney+ is doing damn well for itself. The service only hit yesterday, and it’s already proving to be a potential juggernaut. According to the folks over at TheWrap, more than 10 million people have signed up for the House of Mouse’s new streaming service. Additionally, Apptopia is reporting that the app has been downloaded over 3.2 million times.

While Disney was pretty optimistic about their service’s subscriber potential, going so far as to predict 60 to 90 million subscribers in 2024, which would require at least 20 million in its first year. As the launch neared, you could feel the anticipation in the air online. Yes, people were excited for The Mandalorian, but there were countless others who wanted to relive their childhoods.

On a personal level, I didn’t expect to be drawn into watching the service non-stop, as I have been, with crappy Disney Channel Original movies making up the bulk of my Disney+ diet so far, and I’m sure I’m not alone. With its back catalogue of content ranging from Marvel to Star Wars, there’s enough there to keep ravenous fans occupied indefinitely.

Couple that with all the new shows on the way, and I think those 60 to 90 million subscriber figures by 2025 are starting to look a bit low…

But as far as specifics, we don’t expect to hear any official numbers from Disney until its next quarterly earnings in 2020. That being said, if this pace continues, I can’t imagine Disney will stay silent on their success until then.
