Disney Plus Unveils New Subscription Bundles

In the wake of a successful ad-tier launch in the United States, Disney+ has revealed plans to roll out ad-supported offerings in select European markets and Canada, commencing from November 1. The streaming giant also disclosed an upcoming premium subscription bundle catering to the American audience, set to debut on September 6.

Joe Earley, President of Direct-to-Consumer at Disney Entertainment, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing consumers with choice, flexibility, and value. “The strong momentum of our ad-supported plans in the U.S. demonstrates the importance of providing consumers with choice, flexibility and value,” he stated. “We are excited to expand that offering in more markets across the globe, including in Europe and Canada, and to launch a new premium duo bundle of ad-free Disney+ and Hulu this Fall, as we take steps toward making extensive Hulu content available via Disney+ later this year for Bundle subscribers.”

As part of its global expansion strategy, Disney+ intends to introduce a new Standard tier, along with a Standard with Ads option in select regions across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as well as in Canada. The pricing for these ad-supported plans will start at £4.99/€5.99 per month in EMEA and $7.99 per month in Canada. Current subscribers in applicable markets will continue to enjoy the Premium tier without ads until their subscription price adjustment in December unless they opt for one of the new cost-effective plans.

The newly unveiled ad-supported, Standard, and Premium plans in specific European markets and Canada will grant users access to Disney+’s extensive content library, featuring an array of Exclusive Originals & Library Content spanning films, documentaries, TV series, and shorts. Additional features include multi-profile creation, concurrent streaming on multiple devices, and high-quality video formats like 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, and more, depending on the subscription tier.

Marking a significant addition to its subscription lineup, Disney+ is set to launch the Disney+ and Hulu Bundle ad-free plan on September 6. The restructured pricing for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ ad-supported and ad-free plans in the United States will come into effect starting October 12. This reconfiguration includes various tiers, such as the Duo Premium bundle featuring ad-free Disney+ and Hulu for $19.99 per month, providing subscribers with a more comprehensive selection of streaming choices.

The evolving subscription landscape from Disney+ and Hulu offers viewers an expansive range of streaming content, spanning award-winning Originals, movies, and series from renowned brands such as Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Notably, Hulu + Live TV stands as a prominent all-in-one Digital Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (DMVPD), presenting over 90 live TV channels, premium SVOD services, and innovative features like Unlimited DVR, all available in its base package.
