The latest Barside Buzz is that Marvel still wants Adam Driver as Reed Richards and will make a new approach to him after the strike ends. That is what insider Daniel RPK is saying on his Patreon service. As we know Driver was the hot favorite for Reed in Fantastic Four. However, the last we heard (through Jeff Sneider) was that after reading the script, Driver passed on the role. Sneider himself also felt like Marvel might go back again for Driver and now this latest story backs that up.
The script since Driver saw it last has been rewritten by Josh Friedman. Therefore, the insider says Marvel will go back to Driver with the new script, hoping to tempt him into accepting the part. Of course, this does not mean Driver will accept. The actor must have had reasons he knocked the role back initially. Therefore, it would depend if those reasons have changed with this new script?
Equally, Marvel cannot make any official approach to Driver directly until the strike ends. Though, if people think actors agents aren’t still working on their client’s behalf, they’re being naive.

What does seem very clear is that Marvel view Driver as the actor they want as Reed Richards. Whether we get him or not, will depend on Driver himself. We had also heard Marvel were looking at House of the Dragon star Matt Smith. However, it definitely appears like that may be a secondary option only if Driver continues to elude them. I can’t say that for certain, it just looks that way from the outside and the little information we have.
As per yesterday’s Fantastic Four casting story, it looks like we have Sue locked as Vanessa Kirby. Meanwhile, whilst not signed officially, Marvel has a clear favorite for Johnny in Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things). Ergo, I think we can say that if they get their way, Marvel studios wants Kirby, Driver, Quinn and one other for their Fantastic Four cast. Sadly, only one of those three has signed up according to reports.
