Disney+ has offered fans a glimpse into the upcoming UK Original Series, Renegade Nell, set to premiere globally on the streaming platform in Spring 2024.

Crafted by the mind of BAFTA award-winning writer Sally Wainwright, known for her work on “Happy Valley” and “Gentleman Jack,” and directed by the talented Ben Taylor of “Sex Education” and “Catastrophe” fame, Renegade Nell promises a thrilling adventure set against the backdrop of 18th Century England.

The titular role of Nell is brought to life by Louisa Harland, best known for her role in “Derry Girls.” Nell, a quick-witted and daring young woman, finds herself framed for murder, thrust into a world of danger, and unexpectedly emerges as the most notorious highwaywoman of her time.

Adding a magical twist to the narrative is the introduction of Billy Blind, portrayed by Nick Mohammed of “Ted Lasso” fame. As a mystical spirit, Billy Blind plays a pivotal role in helping Nell realize the vastness of her destiny.

The star-studded cast also includes Frank Dillane as Charles Devereux, a fickle friend with a dangerous alter ego, and Adrian Lester as the Earl of Poynton, a master manipulator scheming against Nell alongside Sofia Wilmot, played by Alice Kremelberg, a young widow hungry for power and independence.

Joely Richardson takes on the role of the eccentric newspaper magnate Lady Eularia Moggerhanger, while Pip Torrens appears as Lord Blancheford. Sofia’s family dynamics are further explored with Jake Dunn portraying her feckless brother Thomas.

Ényì Okoronkwo takes on the role of Rasselas, a spirited stable boy joining Nell and her sisters on their escapades for freedom. Newcomers Bo Bragason and Florence Keen portray Nell’s younger sisters, Roxy and George, respectively, while Craig Parkinson, known for his roles in “Line of Duty” and “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch,” embodies the kind-hearted father, Sam.

Renegade Nell promises to be an action-packed fantasy adventure, comprising eight episodes with a runtime of 45 minutes each. Produced by Lookout Point as a Disney+ UK original series, the show will also feature the directing prowess of Amanda Brotchie and MJ Delaney. Jon Jennings takes on the role of Series Producer, with Stella Merz as Producer. Renegade Nell looks to captivate audiences with its unique blend of mystery, magic, and daring exploits in the historical landscape of 18th-century England.
