Big studios and networks take a stance on Black Lives Matter.
The tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis this week re-sparked a movement across the country. It is the latest death of an African-American man by a white police officer. Over the weekend protests and riots have taken place all across the country. The violence and looting have gotten so bad in some areas that businesses have been forced to shut down and board up their windows. Curfews have also been set in some places and even the national guard has been called in to try and keep protesters under control.
While we are used to seeing celebrities using their platforms to try and raise awareness and a call to action, rarely do we see studios take a stand on either side of any issue. In an unprecedented move, many media platforms have released statements supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

It will be interesting to see if any of these companies take their statements any further than just words on a social media platform as YouTube did. I do wonder if it was just a domino effect for them. Once one put up a statement another felt “obligated” to put one as well. I am not trying to discount any of their messages, I am just interested in their sincerity and what they do moving forward.
We are living in a very difficult year where we have had many extraordinary obstacles to overcome. The physical virus that we have all been fighting affects all living here and now. This current issue that is being protested against has affected current and past generations. The question now is whether or not it will be allowed to continue to affect future generations. We all can condemn all racism and violence.
