There have been many Pinocchio adaptations since Disney’s Pinocchio came out in 1940. And Disney is now going to release a retelling of the story in the form of live-action. Disney’s live-action Pinocchio will be released Fall 2022. Disney+ tweeted the news on Disney+ Day.

Disney+ tweeted:
The live-action retelling of #Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, Luke Evans and the voices of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key and Lorraine Bracco, directed by Robert Zemeckis is coming Fall 2022 to #DisneyPlus. #DisneyPlusDay
I really don’t want Pinocchio to be live-action. I think he would look too weird. When I saw the trailer for Pinocchio 2020, he looked creepy. I also found the way the characters looked in The Lion King to be very strange so I didn’t even want to watch it. In fact, there aren’t many live-action Disney adaptations that I’ve enjoyed. I really liked Cinderella, I was surprised by Maleficent, and Cruella was decent. Beauty and the Beast had some good parts, but for me, it was Luke Evans and Josh Gad’s scenes that carried it.

Pinocchio is a hard story to retell with live-action and I’m just not sure if this film will be successful. Although, I do love to be wrong when it comes to entertainment. I want film-makers, cast, and crew to be succeed in their projects. I’ll just have to wait and see. And, yes, Tom Hanks is amazing like my husband was just saying next to me on the live-stream. But I just don’t know if his amazingness is enough. Maybe with the help of Luke Evans. Check out Disney’s Pinocchio in the Fall on Disney+.
