Do These Black Widow Set Photos Tease Taskmaster?

Black Widow may be dead, but that hasn’t stopped Marvel Studios from moving forward with a new spin-off film for the popular superhero. From what we’ve been able to infer, this will, in fact, be a prequel movie, but as Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige implied recently, that’s not to say this one will be completely devoid of relevance to the current timeline. There’s a way to revisit the past while still helping the series as a whole move forward.

As of this writing, the production for the Scarlett Johansson-starring movie is underway, and we’ve already seen plenty of set photos spread across the web to show for it. However, the latest couple of set photos — which come courtesy of scooper Daniel Richtman — we get a few images of some armored dude riding a tank-like vehicle.

Check out those images below.

As you can see in the Twitter captions, Richtman thinks this could be a take on the villain Taskmaster. If he’s correct, in true Marvel form, it looks like the very comic-booky look of the villain has been updated to fit the more tech-driven world of the MCU — though I have to say, he kinda looks like a Power Ranger, so the goofiness isn’t completely avoided here.

That being said, I’m never one to judge a costume based on set photos. I learned my lesson on that years ago. More than anything, I’m intrigued to get a confirmation as to when this story takes place and how it all fits into the MCU as a whole.

What do you think of the images? What do you think of the costume if it is, in fact, Taskmaster? If not, who else can it be? Let us know your thoughts down below!
