This will come as shock to absolutely no one. It does look as though we finally have some evidence that Mordo is back in the MCU! Mordo was a major character within Doctor Strange, given that movie’s ending, it would be fair to say fans expected to see the character back. However, as of yet, we had heard nothing official about Chiwetel Ejiofor’s return for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
We’ll call this a rumor, but The Illuminerdi claim to have had it confirmed that Ejiofor will indeed reprise his role as Mordo in the movie. I guess if I am honest, I have expected the part Mordo plays in this sequel to be a minor one. If he was the main villain, I think we would have heard news about him being cast right back when the movie was announced. The fact that Ejiofor is only recently signed up (if the rumor is true) makes me think it’s more of a cameo. At least a secondary role and not the main villain.
We as fans know what will happen between Strange and Mordo, they are going to become mortal enemies. However, for now, I am keen to see Mordo continue in his transition. Perhaps Mordo is currently reluctant to expose himself to the Sorcerers he has vowed to destroy? The rumored main villain of this sequel is Brother Voodoo. We have also heard recently that American Chavez could show up, along with potential future love interest Clea.

I would certainly have been more surprised to hear Ejiofor was NOT returning to the sequel. Until we hear something official though, take this with the usual pinch of salt.
