As soon a Venom hit theaters, it was clear which direction a sequel would go. If Venom and Eddie Brock are the antihero, they needed a true villain to go up against. The next stage was clear in the VenomVerse. They needed to go up against Cletus Kasady in Venom 2. This psychotic killer would be the perfect foil to the Symbiote antihero, as he is less restricted by his pesky moralities. As such, you can imagine how bats**t insane he would go.
Yesterday, Tom Hardy shared our first look at Woody Harrelson as Cletus. Well, second look, as Harrelson did pop up in the post-credits scene in Venom. In the new photo, we saw the killer sporting a Hawaiian shirt and a blazer of sorts. Now, in a new set video, we see even more of Harrelson in that same costume, except he’s looking a bit…Carnage-y?

Here we see Woody Harrelson filming as Cletus Kasady!
It looks like Kasady has been stopped on the street by some cops and they’re shooting him.
I Wonder if his hand movements will involve the Symbiote in post production?
Either way it looks great!

So, what is going on in this video? Obviously, we see Harrelson facing off against a policeman, whose gun is drawn. We then see Harrelson do a little jig as the policeman releases a steady a stream of bullets his way. So, what is he doing? Well, we can assume that Cletus has attained his own Symbiote at this point, and that said Symbiote is absorbing the bullets as they’re being fired. That little jig is probably the creature “blobbing” out those bullets.
Of course, we don’t know this for sure, but I’ll be very surprised if there is no CGI Symbiote magic-ry going on by the time the scene hits theaters. Regardless, I do appreciate what little we see of Harrelson’s body language. Yes, it may be influenced by the Carnage Symbiote, but there is something just the slightest bit disturbing about how he’s holding himself. This is likely the moment in the story when Cletus finds out he’s basically invincible and goes on a Carnage kill spree.
