Dónal Finn teases important costume changes for Matt in The Wheel of Time Season 3. Finn recently spoke with Collider about the still filming Season 3. Fan of the books will know that Matt ends up with a very specific look in the books. There is no guarantee the show version of Matt would sport the same costume. However, it would be odd to omit it. Given some of the mythology that underpins Matt’s character, his costume always made sense. I won’t get into any SPOILERS here though folks to feel safe.
Equally Finn is eager to avoid spoilers. However, he does tease that Matt will get a bath at least. Maybe even some new clothes and the hat most fans want to see.
Here is Finn’s response when asked if he gets a costume change in Season 3?
“I think it doesn’t quite fall under the category of spoiler to say that he might have a bath. When you see him at the end of Season 2, he’s just fought this battle, and it’s in Falme, it’s roasting, and he’s sweating, and there’s ash and dust and cloud everywhere on the top of that tower. Obviously, some time must pass between [Seasons] 2 and 3, so I really fought for the character to have a bath and maybe go and find some new garments and that kind of crack.”

Collider then suggested perhaps a nice new hat? However Finn’s response was coy.
“Yeah, but you know what as well, I was just saying there was so much change and challenges in Season 2 for me in the journey for the character, that him having just that one outfit — or that one costume for the season — was a great constant, because it kept me tuned in with the character, and it made me feel connected to something that was anchored, and certain, and reliable.”
I have no doubt that by the end of Season 3, Finn will be fully in character as the Matt of later books. I assume that also means his costume, like the hat, a bit of lace, but not too much mind. If they stick to the books there will also be a few other key visual details I won’t mention.
