Dwayne Johnson’s Company Signs First Look Deal With Disney

Dwayne Johnson Seven Bucks Company signs first look deal with Disney to develop theatrical and streaming films.

Dwayne Johnson Seven Bucks Company signs first look deal with Disney to develop theatrical and streaming films. Johnson and his partner Dany Garcia have penned the deal only recently as reported by Variety.

‘Seven Bucks Productions, the film and TV content label founded by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, has signed a first-look deal with The Walt Disney Company to develop films for theatrical and streaming, Variety has learned exclusively.’

‘The projects will be possible vehicles for Johnson to star in and, interestingly, the deal is not strictly limited to filmed content. While details weren’t immediately disclosed, Variety has learned the multi-year agreement will also give Seven Bucks a chance to collaborate across all Disney divisions.’

Johnson has already worked a lot with Disney, having starred in Jungle Cruise with Emily Blunt. Plus his role in Moana and it’s upcoming sequel Moana 2. Considering how popular Moana was and how many times kids watched the trailers for Moana 2, I’m guessing they have another hit on their hands.

I’m sure our readers will wonder whether this means Johnson could show up in the MCU or Star Wars franchises? However, realistically there is nothing to suggest this would be the case. It’s a first look deal for ideas born out of Seven Bucks. It’s not Johnson becoming a studio owned actor who can show up wherever they please. I’m not saying Johnson will never appear on any of these franchises, but the chances or no greater or smaller as a result of this deal.

How about Jingle Cruise? A sequel to Jungle Cruise that see’s Johnson and Blunt try to beat baddies to find the home of Santa Clause? Yes it sounds horrific, but it also sounds plausible for a Johnson/Disney vehicle, sadly. I have very little interest in this, but news is news, and this is movie news.

What do you think of this as Dwayne Johnson’s company signs a first look deal with Disney to develop theatrical and streaming films? Are you as thrilled by this news as I am? Thoughts below as always.
