The Harry Potter spinoff series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be changing locations with each film in the franchise. The first entry into the series, mentioned above, was set in New York City, and its upcoming sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, will use Paris, France as its main location.
Director David Yates, who is set to helm all five Fantastic Beasts movies (he also directed four of the Harry Potter films), recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and said there will be more city changes throughout the franchise:
“Yes. Jo’s already told us where the next one is taking place. It’s very exciting. This is a global story, ultimately. And given that there’s a global audience for this, it’s all the more delightful to take the story to different parts of the world.”

Yates, of course, cannot reveal the future locations disclosed to him, but any of the major cities around the world would seem to be fair game. I think this is a cool concept, I am wondering if the pattern of cities is just another way to keep the movies fresh or will it have an overall larger meaning? Warner Bros. did well with the first entry into the spinoff series, and it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect a sequel of equal, if not better quality.
