The latest Barside Buzz around Fantastic Four casting is here, and its Thing time. Ebon Moss-Bachrach is the latest actor rumored for Ben Grimm in the Fantastic Four movie. The rumors comes from the mods over at subreddit r/DCEULeaks, and whilst that might seem to be a strange source it’s worth paying attention to. It does seems like someone is feeding that sub Marvel information as some of tier rumors lately have been backed up by higher tiered sources.

That being said, as always, take any rumor with a pinch of salt. Let’s face it, at this point practically ever actor in Hollywood has been linked to these roles. It therefore now seems unlikely the cast will sign up before the Actor’s Guild strike kicks in later today. One insider I trust, BSL of One Take News responded to the claim to say they had heard nothing, but that doesn’t really help us in any way. The mods at this sub claim they have been able to vet this sources credentials, which does add some legitimacy. What that usually entails is the source sending in proof they would have access to that information and knowing the mods will not reveal that publicly. Though, that did get another sub in trouble recently, so..

I found it hard to be excited for the last rumors candidate Daveed Diggs, because I don’t know his work. I have seen Moss-Bachrach recently in Andor and I loved that show, he was great. Does that give me enough info to sate whether he’d be a good Ben? Nope, I’m just going to have to judge the end result I think. I love Ben as a character and he’s been done poorly so far in live-action. I guess I want a Ben as ripped from the comics as Hulk was in Avengers. Let’s see if that happens or not?
I think anyone would be wise to not get attached to any rumored name for this movie. There has been so many claims that actors were locked in, only for sometimes the very same sources to debunk their own rumor later. The Current top choice for Reed is unknown, it used to be Adam Driver. Current front runner for Sue is now Vanessa Kirby, but it used to be Margot Robbie then Jodie Comer before that. The front runner for Johnny is Joseph Quinn, but it used be Paul Mescal. Now, finally, the front runner for Ben is Ebon Moss-Bachrach, however it used to be Daveed Diggs. Who will the front runners be by the time this actor’s strike ends?
