One of the newly announced Fan Four Ebon Moss-Bachrach says The Thing will be a motion capture CGI performance in Fantastic Four, plus more. Moss-Bachrach appeared this weekend on Jimmy Kimmel Live and of course talk turned to his next big movie role. Ebon was announced as one of the Fantastic Four only recently alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn.

Kimmel was obviously going to ask Ebon about this role, but since filming has not begun yet, what can he really say? Well you can watch the video below, but I will breakdown the key details afterwards.

As per the title, one thing Moss-Bachrach revealed was that as far as he knows Ben/Thing will be a motion capture performance with a CGI character, kinda like how Hulk has been performed by Mark Ruffalo for years in the MCU. This is an important detail and for me very good news. Ebon talks about how a rubber suit looks a little dated now and I could not agree more. Ben should be almost the same size as Hulk, maybe not quite as big. I just don’t think that can be done effectively using a rubber suit. Realistically Ben should look more like Korg.

Secondly Ebon revealed he has known he had the part as Ben in this movie since around August last year. He described finding out just after the writers strike had begun but before the actor strike kicked in. That’s roughly when we start hearing rumors of his name, as being locked. We heard the rumor of Ebon as Thing around June originally last year.

Moss- Bachrach also revealed he has not actually met Vanessa Kirby yet face to face. I assume that means he has met both Quinn and Pascal. He also revealed that Pascal has now set up a group chat for the four of them, pointing out there are two +44 numbers in there (Kirby and Quinn live in the U.K. and that’s the international code).

Ebon also confirms he has tread the script, or at least one version of it. However he is not saying anything about that as you may expect. He was also asked about the tease of a 60’s setting. All he said was, ‘yes, there does appear to be some teases for the 60’s in that Valentine day image’, and he left it at that. How this will work is unclear for now? However, unless Marvel is on some kind of disinformation campaign, the 60’s thing seems a certainty.

What do you think of his comments as Ebon Moss-Bachrach says The Thing will be a motion capture CGI performance in Fantastic Four? Thoughts below as always.
