Echo Producer Teases Kingpin As The Thanos Of Street Level MCU

In a recent interview Vincent D'Onofrio comments on those recent Spider-Man 4 rumors, he seems keen, but also claims to know nothing.

Echo producer Brad Winderbaum teases Kingpin as the Thanos of the Street Level MCU in a recent interview. Kingpin has appeared so far in both Hawkeye and soon to be released Echo. However, the character is also the lead antagonist of Daredevil: Born Again and is rumored to be the big bad of Spider-Man 4 also.

Speaking with ScreenRant recently Winderbaum was asked if Wilson Fisk is being set up as a street level Thanos?

“You kind of hit the nail on the head,” said Winderbaum. “And I can’t say too much, only that as a chapter of Wilson Fisk’s life, this is a crucial one and sets the stage, in some remarkable ways for what’s coming next.”

Of course there are a few things we know about how this will shape up. It seems in both Echo and Daredevil: Born Again Fisk is running for, and then becomes, Mayor of NYC. If we go purely by the rumors they say Fisk outlaws vigilantes like Spider-Man and Daredevil, setting the scene for all three to appear in Spider-Man 4.

Check out the interview for yourself below.

Insiders have likened the plot of Spider-Man 4 a little to Captain America: Civil War. In other words we may get some hero vs hero action. That being said, rumors are rumors. Nothing is confirmed until it is, so don’t feel like these are hard facts at this point.

If I’m being honest, this is exactly the role Kingpin should play in the MCU as it matches the comics. I grew up being amazed by the 90’s Amazing Spider-Man cartoons and Kingpin was always the big bad. The villain in the background causing various other issues or being a direct threat.

Kingpin may be Daredevil’s nemesis as opposed to Spider-Mans. However, he’s still a villain who hates Spidey and wants him gone. Add in some Osborn’s getting caught up in Kingpin’s machinations and I’ll be a very happy man about where this could all go. Also, thing is, I don’t think Winderbaum is spoiling anything here. He’s just saying that what fans want to happen with Fisk is what’s gonna happen. That’s good marketing at this point for me. And the MCU needs some positive buzz.

What do you think of his comments as Echo producer Brad Winderbaum teases Kingpin as the Thanos of the Street Level MCU? Thoughts below as usual.
