Emilio Estevez led the cast in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers
After years of not acting with Emilio Estevez, Disney managed in convincing Estevez to reprise his well-known role as Gordon Bombay in Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.
The series was immediately renewed with tremendous anticipation the whole cast, including Emilio Estevez, returning.
Now Deadline reported Gordon Bombay was let go once again with Estevez not returning for season two. Disney Television Studios’ ABC Signature decided not to pick up his option over the show’s Covid vaccination assignment.
No official word from the studio or Estevez at this time.
According to the trade site, the studio adopted a mandatory vaccination policy for cast and crew in “Zone A,” which was included as an option in the most recent Return-to-Work agreement with the Hollywood studios and major unions.
Also, it was reported Estevez had creative differences that contributed to his exit. Currently, the scripts are being written and will be re-adjusted with the absence of Gordon Bombay.

Estevez starred with Lauren Graham and Brady Noon for season one that has a new modern-day Minneapolis team of underdogs competing against a talented Mighty Ducks team. Through the season, the kids learned that spirit of the sport rather than being highly competitive is the true meaning of the Mighty Ducks.
The rest of the cast is confirmed for season two, including Graham, Noon, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts.
Production of season two of The Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers expected to begin next year. No specific date release at this time for Disney+.
