Evil Dead Remastered Screams With Reimagined Score And 4K Sound Remix

Get ready to witness the awesome power of the boom stick. Very soon Sam Raimi’s classic genre-defining Evil Dead will be arriving back into theaters faster than a Deadite can scale a wall. Fans of the original classic are in store for a blast of 4K video to the eyeballs. That’s not all that’s in store for filmgoers either. Accompanying the tuned and tweaked visuals will be a reimagined score by the original composer Joseph LoDuca. Madness, right? Well to literally add to the mix will be a 5.1 surround mix created by Marti Humphrey and Jussi Tegelman who did the sound for both Drag Me To Hell and Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Why is this happening? We can look no further than the quote from franchise star Bruce Campbell for an explanation.

“Mixing the sound for Evil Dead in the early ’80s, we were forced to shove everything into one monaural box. As a result, Joe LoDuca’s great score had to compete unfairly with Kandarian Demons, gore sound effects and lots of screaming. With this new release, Joe can finally have his dynamic composition mixed, balanced and featured properly – for perhaps the first time ever!”

Breathing Evil Dead into the 21st century is a task that was only accomplished thanks to Raimi enlisting the video editing sorcery of Bob Murawski. Murawski has an Oscar win under his belt. In 2010 he was awarded the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for his work on The Hurt Locker. This is not Murawski’s first rodeo either. He has worked on several films including the Spider-Man trilogy and Oz the Great and Powerful. Are you looking forward to seeing some Ash on Deadite action?
