Ewan McGregor Says The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Starts Filming March 2021

I would assume anyone reading this article is well aware of the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series that’s set to air on Disney. While it’s been years in the making, the pandemic has prolonged the show’s production, as it as the majority of projects in Hollywood.

Word comes today straight from McGregor that the show will begin filming In March of next year. McGregor appeared on The Graham Norton Show via Zoom and spoke about the series. You can check it out below

“It’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi story, I suppose. It’s not all me, but it certainly will be a lot of me, which is good.We start shooting it in March next year.”

McGregor also spoke of watching the films of Sir Alec Guinness, who originally played the role of Obi-Wan, to prepare for playing the character in the prequel films.

“The fun thing about doing that in the first place when I was much younger was trying to imagine Alec Guinness, how would he play these scenes as a younger guy. It led me to watch some of his earlier work, which I had never seen before. Brilliant movies, wonderful films that he’d been in, and I had such a great time studying him in those movies.”

The series is only set to run for one season, which is kind of a bummer but we also don’t know the story we’re going to be told. Not in detail anyway, so one season may be all that is necessary. We wan quality of quantity, right?

I’m still thoroughly impressed with McGregor’s ability to keep a secret. If you’re unaware the actor stayed quiet about the series for years. Perhaps marvel should hire McGregor and let Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland get all the spoilers out so that they don’t slip up elsewhere. They could be confident that secrets are safe with McGregor.

I think even those fans who dislike the Star Wars prequels will admit one of the trilogies redeeming qualities they Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The dude was absolutely f***ing delightful. I must say, John Williams’ scores were stellar as always.
