According to a new report from our friends at KRT, we may have a name for the live-action Ezra Bridger. The Ezra Bridger casting rumor from the guys says that Mena Massoud (Aladdin) is being circled for the role. Now, the report does say that as yet there is no signed deal in place. However, the role needs to be cast, and this would be a huge opportunity for Massoud, who already has worked for Disney. I guess I’m saying I have a hard time imagining Massoud passing up on this chance.
Way I see it, I trust KRT because we know from our own scoops and chats we have had their sources are solid. So where would Ezra come in? That remains to be seen, if we go back to LRM‘s original scoop about the upcoming Disney+ shows, it becomes clearer. LRM were told that in addition to The Mandalorian, a Boba Fett show, an Ahsoka Show, a Gina Carano led show, and a show focused on Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn were coming. KRT had also heard similar information and said that the Gina Carano show would also feature Bo-Katan.
Now, we think that show is Rangers of the New Republic, and we all know Gina Carano will no longer be in it after she was fired. We also have The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka both announced. What we have heard nothing about so far as the Ezra/Thrawn show we were told about. It makes sense if everything else we were told came true, so will this. However, it is also possible that Ezra will appear for the first time in one of those other shows? The announcement of the Ezra/ Thrawn story might be kept back until Lucasfilm decides to reveal the character elsewhere. Similarly in how Boba Fett and Ahsoka’s shows were kept quiet (officially) until the characters actually appeared.
So whilst I do think Massoud will sign on, and I do think an Ezra show is coming, I won’t say where Massoud could show up first. There are three Star Wars shows I’m confident Ezra definitely won’t make his debut in. The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor. The latter two seem obvious, but for The Book of Boba Fett? Feels wrong, and additionally I think the shoot is too far along for Lucasfilm to just be circling Massoud.
Let us know what you think of this Ezra Bridger casting? Would you be happy for Massoud to sign on as Ezra? As always leave your thoughts below.
