This past weekend, there was an incredibly odd report that came courtesy of Page Six. According to them, Ben Stiller would be joining the extensive cast of F9: The Fast Saga. For those not indoctrinated into the B.S. naming conventions of the franchise, I’m talking about Fast & Furious 9. That’s right, we could potentially be getting the great Ben Stiller to join the family — though his role was a secret to everyone.

Well, hopefully, you didn’t get too caught up in the idea of seeing Stiller return to the big screen in the action franchise. Because, as with many other rumors to hit this web, this one is…likely false. The actor recently took to Twitter to debunk this whole thing in hilarious style.

“Reports of my Fast and Furiosness are greatly exaggerated,” Stiller wrote in a tweet. “Meaning not at all true, sadly. Though I wish them well with the franchise. Fingers crossed it takes off. #FastAndFurious #PageSixIsAmazing”

Yes, I know. We’re all disappointed that he won’t be joining the franchise. After all, we’re talking about a series that has sported everyone from The Rock to Helen Mirren and Kurt Russell. With John Cena joining the fray, there’s no lack of star power in this one. Stiller would have been an interesting get.

All this being said, a part of me wonders if he’s lying. We’re talking about a guy who tried to hide from the world that Tom Cruise was playing a character in Tropic Thunder. You never know if he’s trying to hide something, and this could very well be it…and it can also be nothing.
