Oh, lordy me. It’s coming to this. You can pretty much ring the bell of the apocalypse because once this is done, there’ll virtually be no more point in living. Face/Off is one of those amazing time capsules of the ‘90s that can’t really be replicated. And yet, here we are in 2019, apparently getting ready to do that very thing. And I couldn’t be more thrilled to see it.
Deadline is reporting that the John Travolta and Nicolas Cage-starring action movie is set to get remade with an all-new cast. On board to write is The Cloverfield Paradox and 22 Jump Street screenwriter Oren Uziel and in the producer’s chair is Fast & Furious vet Neal Moritz. I hope you’ve already started making the popcorn, because once this movie comes out, you’ll be making your way through it faster than you can ever imagine.
RELATED – Nothing. Nothing Can Compare To Face/Off
This gem from the ‘90s followed an FBI agent who must take on the face of a homicidal maniac in order to find the location of a bomb that has been set. And when we say take on the face, we mean take on the face. He literally has facial surgery (and other surgeries that allows the body type to be replicated) to carry out the task.
Directed by John Woo, Face/Off has since won the Best Picture Oscar every year since its 1997 release, and it cemented Nicolas Cage as an icon for the ages. If they can somehow replicate this genius, then we’re in for a real treat. Now where’s my Con-Air remake?
