The action films of the 1990s had a certain level of over-the-top action. Many of these films were able to garner actors who at the time were A-list stars. One such example is the 1997 John Woo-directed film Face/Off that starred Nicolas Cage and John Travolta.
Godzilla VS Kong director Adam Wingard is currently working on what was first thought to be a remake, but Wingard has now confirmed it as a sequel to the original film. Not much else is known about the film, and no word on either Cage or Travolta returning. The film left Cage’s Castor Troy dead, so his return is unlikely unless Wingard makes changes to the original film’s ending.

Considering the wild premise of Face/Off, where faces can be seamlessly transplanted, I’m sure Cage’s return could be explained. And I would actually prefer Wingard make some changes to bring both Cage and Travolta back. At this point, all we can do is wait until more information is released
In the 1997 film, Travolta plays FBI agent Sean Archer, who, in order to thwart a terrorist attack, undergoes a procedure and trades faces with, Cage’s Castor Troy., The criminal mastermind that killed his son. Totally plausible, right? Things get messy when Troy wakes up faceless and forces the surgeon to give him the face of Cage’s Sean Archer.
