Family Guy Tries To Pull A Fast One On Emmy Voters

While the event is still over five months away, Family Guy‘s latest Emmy mailer is a classic switcheroo move that puts them in prime position to bring home TV’s most prized statue, as long as the majority of Emmy voters are easuiy hoodwinked. Invented in 1937 by Bugs Bunny, the old switcheroo is a go-to move for animated characters that engage in high levels of jackassery, as the characters in Family Guy so beautifully do.

Family Guy hopes that the hit HBO series shows can help them receive a nomination other than in the voice-over category, which is all the show has received for the last seven years. As you can see below, Family Guy‘s scheme is simple, but just might be crazy enough to work, except, it probably won’t. It’s still a nice nod by Family Guy to their timeslot opponent Game of Thrones, which is looking to three-peat as Best Drama Series.

The staff of Family Guy are big fans of the GoT as the show’s executive producer Rich Appel explains below.

“Whatever start time we have on Monday you can add 40 minutes so there’s a complete download of the previous night. And then I usually note you realize our show was also on last night?”

I imagine it’s more productive to just let the staff get it all out at once. Taking in account the love the staff of Family Guy has for GoT coupled with the image from the Emmy mailer. I can only think of one thing. Family Guy should give Game of Thrones the same treatment as they gave Star Wars. Condense the seasons down to hour-long Family Guy episodes, could be fun. Fox? HBO? Whaddaya say?
