Some bad news for fans of FX’s series Fargo, as the show is unlikely to even start filming its fourth season until next year. Speaking with TheWrap, showrunner Noah Hawley stated that getting the next season going before 2019 is a long shot.
“I think realistically we will certainly be filming it next year, but that doesn’t mean it will air then,” he said. “Mostly just because it’s a winter show. You know, I have to write [the episodes], then we have to prep it, then we have to film it, which means it’s either this coming winter or next winter. Given my schedule with making a movie and posting a movie this summer, and then gearing up to do more ‘Legion’ assuming we get a pickup. It seems like a long shot that I can launch ‘Fargo’ 4 this winter.”

It is becoming more frequent for shows to take extended hiatuses. Rick and Morty, Game of Thrones, and now Fargo, which aired the last episode of its third season in June of 2017. I enjoy the show, though I am a little behind from being completely caught up.
I actually have come to like the show as much or perhaps even more than the Oscar-winning film from 1996. It appears as I will have plenty of time to catch up though. Taking Hawley’s words into account for the assumed production schedule on the fourth season, one could speculate it may not air until 2020.
