We all know that Avengers: Endgame is said to be a bit on the long end when it comes to run time. Three hours and 58 seconds to be exact. Our very own Joseph Jammer Medina posted about this a couple of days ago, and now Collider has added that the Russo brothers have revealed that the original cut was…shorter. Interesting since most final cuts edit parts out rather than add parts, but they want their conclusion to go out with a bang.
Steve Weintraub of Collider spoke with the Russo brothers when they stated:
“We’ve been working on this movie for well over a year in editorial because we finished it in 2018, and it literally hasn’t moved maybe more than two minutes from its original runtime on the director’s cut. It’s just a tough one. There’s just a lot of story in it. We like emotional stakes that require screentime.”
“We have almost everything in this movie that we shot… I think [our first cut] was slightly shorter than this.”
They also mentioned deleted scenes should only run from five to ten minutes, which means that almost everything we see in the final cut is almost all of the material they have. This could be good for fans to get some closure and the story we all want/need.
