First Official Look At Ruby Rose As Batwoman

Some weeks ago, it was revealed that Orange is the New Black actress Ruby rose would be donning a cowl of her own as Batwoman in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover. Additionally, The CW would also be using this opportunity to create a spin-off series for her, where Rose could reprise her role as LGBT superhero.

Of course, because the internet is the internet, there seemed to be some sort of online outcry over her casting. Some were upset at the character being portrayed as a Jewish lesbian, and some simply didn’t like the fact that Rose didn’t identify strictly as a lesbian, and therefore thought she shouldn’t be given the role. It was this backlash that pushed yet another user off Twitter.

Still, that didn’t change the good deal of excitement over her casting, and over the simple fact that Batwoman was headed to The CW. After years of flirting with bigger characters in the DC Universe of comics, they seem to be inching just a little bit closer every season. But how close would she look to her comic book counterpart?

Have a look for yourself.

Damn. Yeah, that’s kind of all I have to say. Damn.

As we’ve come to expect from these shows, this looks an awful lot like it was ripped directly out of the comics. Of course, this is a bit of a double-edged sword, as it has a real potential to look absolutely ridiculous in a grounded world, but the Arrowverse has stopped trying to be a grounded world for some time.
