What a day, what a lovely day as we get the first trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and it looks like big fun. Furiosa is a story following the titular character that was first introduced into this Universe in Mad Max: Fury Road. In that movie set many years later than this, the role was played by Charlize Theron, but is now played by Anya Taylor-Joy.

Also pay attention to Chris Hemsworth playing the big bad of this one. He looks like he had a lot of fun with this character.

George Miller just shoots this universe so wonderfully that it feels like going back home. All those thrills from Fury Road look to be back and Furiosa is an interesting character to follow. How did she get to where we met her in Fury Road? So glad to be back in this Mad Max franchise.

The trailer tells us some of what to expect here. A young Furiosa was snatched from her family as a child and she has spent the remaining years trying to fulfil a promise to return. Though, these Mad Max movies are set in a harsh world, so my bets are, there’s no happy ending. I mean, we kinda already know Furiosa ends up killing and replacing Immortan Joe. And that the green place is now just a swamp.

Because we know where this path ends, I must admit I felt less interested in this one when it was announced. The trailer however reminds me that the plot is kinda irrelevant in a Mad Max movie. I mean the plot of Fury Road was a car chase up and down the same road to where we started. It was still fun as hell though.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga releases on Friday, 24 May, 2024.
