The holiday season is a time where most of us make a big effort to get together with our loved ones, some that we see often and some due to certain circumstances not so often. But there are many families out there that cannot get together during this holiday season or any due to the fact that they are split apart because they are separated due to their immigration status. While part of the family may have had the privilege to be born here, some of the family may have been born elsewhere and thus for one reason or another have had to be deported. This is what the Acosta family faces in Sony Pictures’ reimagining of the classic drama Party of Five. You can check out a new promo for the series above as well as new artwork of the Acosta kids down below!

This new promo for the series was filmed in Echo Park, California and features the song “Somethings Gotta Give” by Camila Cabello. As we can see in the promo video, we get a look at the family bond that the Acosta family have with one another. But the five siblings as they continue their journeys in life, will have to do so without their parents by their sides as they are taken away from them. My favorite moment is after realizing that they are not with them, the Acosta siblings continue on forward together.

This is the story that we will get a chance to see on Freeform starting on Wednesday, January 8th, when Party of Five will premiere with two episodes. If you want a sneak peak before that, the first episode will be available for a special pre-linear on Hulu, Freeform.com, the Freeform App and on demand starting Wednesday January 1st.

Here is the synopsis for Party of Five as provided by Sony Pictures Television:

From Sony Pictures Television, the reimagining of the beloved series will follow the five Acosta children as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico. In a new iteration by original series creators Amy Lippman and Christopher Keyser, this beloved story of a young family bound by adversity will be retold through the lens of current-day themes and cultural conversations. The series stars Brandon Larracuente as Emilio Acosta, Emily Tosta as Lucia Acosta, Niko Guardado as Beto Acosta and Elle Paris Legaspi as Valentina Acosta. Bruno Bichir and Fernanda Urrejola star as the Acosta parents, Javier and Gloria.
