‘From A Certain Point of View’ Book Sequel To Chronicle Empire Strikes Back This Time Around

Benioff and Weiss detail their cancelled Star Wars trilogy, plus some Barside Buzz that there's still no script for the Rey sequel.

A new From A Certain Point of View novel will be available this fall.. The Star Wars spin-off anthology will feature 40 short stories from 40 authors honoring the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. This is the second entry into the series receiving the same treatment as A New Hope.

The book will be a collection of short stories and famous events from the film told from, well, a different point of view. Yes, it’s possible we will hear the story of Lando Calrissian’s Cloud City double-cross. Except we’ll see it through the eyes of the person who set the lovely dinner table at which Darth Vader was seated as he waited for Leia, Han Solo, and Chewie. Or we could possibly see the ice cave incident from the Wampa’s point of view. Granted those examples are pretty far out there and unlikely, but you get the idea.

You can find a description as well as the cover of the book below.

“Reimagining the classic sequel through the eyes of background characters — heroes, villains, droids and creatures.”

Until writing this article, I was unaware of these books. I must say I think it’s a great idea.

Below you can find some of the authors that contributed to the novel. Lucasfilm will release a full list on June 16 at StarWars.com.

Lydia Kang, Michael Moreci, Sarwat Chadda, Zoraida Córdova, Brittany N. Williams Alexander Freed,  Rebecca F. Kuang, Martha Wells, CB Lee, and Tracy Deonn. The authors will be donating their pay to First Book along with, along with Disney/Lucasfilm donating 100,000 childrens books and Penguin Random House chipping in a cool $100,00.

First Book is described as follows:

“A leading nonprofit that provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to educators and organizations serving children in need.”

The book will be available on November 10, 2020.
