Marvel’s Black Panther has an impressive cast that’s been the talk of the town for a while. A venerable who’s-who of promising black talent, Ryan Coogler’s film is going to be a big deal when it arrives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to a new report another rising star has signed on for Black Panther, and it’s one that has legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s stamp of approval.
Variety is reporting that Letitia Wright, who is set to appear in Spielberg’s Ready Player One, has signed on to join the cast of Black Panther. This means she’ll be acting alongside the likes of Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira, and Winston Duke.
As of this time there’s no word on who Wright will be playing Black Panther, so let the rumors begin about who the 22-year-old has been cast as.
Considering her youthful look, might she be playing Shuri? That’s T’Challa’s younger half-sister who, at one point in the comics, actually took on the Black Panther mantle.
Your guess is as good as mine.
UPDATE:
In a somewhat confusing move, Variety announced via Tweet that they believe Wright will be playing a character named Serita- Yet they haven’t updated their report, which still claims that her character is unknown at this time. So add that to the rumor mill until something gets confirmed.
Black Panther is slated for release on February 16, 2018.
