Here’s my Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 3 review folks. So far I’ve been surprisingly enjoying Skeleton Crew, so did I with Episode 3? Aye! I’ll get to the ‘aye’ farther down, but let me just start with my usual SPOILER FREE flag. I will get into some details from the first two episodes here, but I’ll be careful around Episode 3.

The scene was set with Episode 2’s ending. The kids have met a mysterious man (Jude Law) who seems to have Force powers, and he offers to help them escape. Given his status in the show, as you’d expect, we spend Episode 3 getting to know a little more about Jod Na Nawood as the kids decide whether to trust him. I’m not always the biggest fan of Jude Law, it really depends on the performance. I was therefore kinda worried he would be a weak link in the series after the first two episodes. Thankfully, I was wrong. I really like this character and what Law is doing with him. We learn a lot about Jod, but clearly we have only scratched the very surface.

Episode 3 also adds a little more to the At Attin mystery. We see one small scene on planet of the parents dealing with their children going missing. We also find out a little more about what the Galaxy at wide thinks of At Attin. No spoilers of course, but I am intrigued to find out more.

This is a fun episode where the runtime just flies by as our leads attempt to escape. Some of the action scenes were well thought out, and a simple but effective script drives home a nice little episode, which felt perfect for it’s runtime. How often have we said that with a Star Wars series? So far, this Skeleton Crew, almost against all odds, just works. Andor is still my jam for more mature content. However, for a fun family show, Skeleton Crew works much better tonally than Ahsoka did.

My favourite character remains SM-33, although we see a little less of him in Episode 3. That being said, he steals the best moment of the show by far. I genuinely laughed out loud when he said one word, “aye”. That makes no sense till you watch the episode. When you do though, you’ll know what part I mean and I just want everyone to know I actually bust out laughing. That is extremely rare for me. I’m extremely picky on my comedy.

I really can’t think of any real criticisms I have on this one. For me this was better than Episode 2, which in turn was better than Episode 1. If Skeleton Crew keeps up this level for the full season I think it should definitely get a second Season. It just depends whether viewing figures back that up. Reports are that Skeleton Crew has struggled to find an audience so far. I actually completely understand that, I didn’t fancy this show. Star Wars has been poor recently, fans just were not excited for this. However, hopefully the good word of mouth I’m seeing everywhere will bring in audiences.

Try this folks, and watch it with your kids, if you have them.

GRADE: Aye A
