Enjoy George R.R. Martin recounting of a particularly unusual incident that happened on the set of Game of Thrones during the shooting of the show’s original pilot. The scene involved Jason Momoa, actress Tamzin Merchant, and a horse. I bet I have your attention now, right?
A, what I’ll call romantic scene with Khal Drogo and the original Daenerys Targaryen was interrupted by a horse being, well, overly interested. Author Martin recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and spoke about the unusual day on the set. You can chec it out below.
“So we’re by this little brook. They tied the horses to the trees and there’s a seduction scene by the stream. Jason Momoa and Tamzin are naked and ‘having sex.’ And suddenly the video guy starts to laugh. The silver filly was not a filly at all. It was a colt. And it was getting visibly excited by watching these two humans. There’s this horse in the background with this enormous horse s*****g. So that didn’t go well either.

Since Tamzin Merchant is playing Daenerys Targaryen, I assume this must be from the original pilot that Benioff and Weiss screened for friends and colleagues, and from what I’ve read was absolutely awful. When the pilot was shot for a second time, a few roles were recast including Emilia Clarke replacing Merchant as Daenerys. I hope they someday release this pilot, I would love to watch it, and I’m guessing I’m not alone in that.
This is a bit random, though it does involve Game of Thrones. If I were ever given the opportunity to time travel. I would have quite the conundrum laid before me. Do I go back and try to fix Game of Thrones or stop The Last Jedi from being made alltogether?
