Gotham – Bruce And Selina’s Relationship Will Change In Season 5

Fans of Fox’s Gotham know that the upcoming fifth season will be the show’s last, and that they will in some way see Bruce Wayne become the Dark Knight. Over the last four seasons viewers have seen a young Bruce Wayne on his journey to become the hero Gotham City needs. Along the way Bruce has made both friend and enemies, one character, Selina Kyle, who will one day become Catwoman, has for the most part been a friend of Bruce’s throughout the series’ run. David Mazouz, who plays Bruce Wayne on the show spoke with ComicBook.com while at San Diego Comic-Con and talked about how Bruce and Selina’s relationship will change.

“I think that’s the only thing that we’ve both been waiting on, really. It’s gonna be Batman and Catwoman, eventually. I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say but, when we first see them again, it’s gonna be a rocky road because obviously Selina is going to be pretty pissed at Bruce. Ultimately it was Jeremiah who wanted to get to Bruce and that’s why he shot Selina and that’s what put her in this state. Eventually they’re going to be back on the same side, but Selina is gonna be a different person. The way that she fights her way out of a hospital bed forces her to sacrifice some parts of herself and she’s going to be more Catwoman-y, but less somebody that Bruce can be friends with.”

It sounds like Selina will take her final turn toward villainy, or at least become more of an anti-hero type figure. As most of you know Selina Kyle was left paralyzed at the end of the last season after being shot by Jeremiah “I’m not the Joker” Valeska. This is sure to have an effect on her character and likely not in a positive way. The show’s performance as far as ratings have been up and down during its run, I am just happy that Fox gave the showrunners a final season to wrap things up.
