It’s been rumored and teased for some time, and here is the reveal. GTA Online: The Cayo Perico Heist is coming on December 15th. It was expected that this latest, and potentially biggest GTA Online update would hit some time next year. However, the teasing is all over, it’s coming in 4 week’s time.

The reveal says we will be infiltrating on off-shore island which is home to a notorious drug dealer. It also promises to be the biggest, most exciting and action-packed heist yet.

Heists are where the fun is in GTA Online. You and a group of friends running prep missions in order to pull off a heist at the end. How much money you make, may well depend on what options you chose, and how good your team is. As a fan of GTA Online I have completed all the current heists in the game many times. There was also a period of years where no new heists were created and I think the game was poorer for it in that period.

With a new heist usually means new loot to earn. Usually this loot is in the form of special vehicles and aircraft that can be purchased with the money you earn. In the past some of the heist vehicles have been crazy and desired by the fans. So far we don’t know what kind new gear we can expect to be saving for, but I’ll bet we find out soon. The new expansion will also for the first time provide a new map off the West Coast of San Andreas Island. Whether this map will require some sort of loading jump, or be seamlessly a part of the larger map remains to be seen.
