Prepare to return to the world of Harry Potter in ways never experienced. The makers of the popular augmented reality game, Pokémon Go, have announced that the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be released sometime in the second half of 2018. John Hanke, CEO of Niantic recently spoke with ft.com and talked about the experience they gained from Pokémon Go and how that knowledge transferred to the new Harry Potter game:
“In terms of dealing with public locations, government policy, regulations and public reaction to people being out in the real world, we have built up our expertise there.”

Hanke’s words have me intrigued and wondering how the interactions of the real world and the game will differ from Pokémon Go. Hopefully, the game will provide a much-needed fix for fans until they can return to the Potter universe later this year with the Fantastic Beasts sequel.
I think the idea of augmented reality is great. Though I was too old to ever get into Pokémon, I have played Go enough to get the concept down. Since I am a much bigger fan of the Harry Potter world as opposed to Pokémon, I should enjoy Harry Potter: Wizards Unite much more.
