Have Marvel Changed The Origin Of Captain Marvel For the Movie?

Captain Marvel has a relatively straightforward origin story in the comics, she is caught in an explosion with the Kree Mar-Vell, and as he perishes his superhuman abilities pass into Carol Danvers as she becomes Captain Marvel. Though there are a few variations on this, to be fair. I am sure our comic experts could correct me slightly.

In an interview with EW Brie Larson who plays Carol Danvers in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie talked about her characters Kree side, here is what she said.

“You have this Kree part of her that’s unemotional, that is an amazing fighter and competitive. Then there’s this human part of her that is flawed but is also the thing that she ends up leading by. It’s the thing that gets her in trouble, but it’s also the thing that makes her great. And those two sides warring against each other is what makes her her.”

With these comments and the images we have seen so far, I think it looks like they are going to do something different here. We have been told Captain Marvel is not an origin story, so does she have her powers right from the start?

My guess, and that’s all I claim it to be, is that Carol discovered she has some Kree in her all along and is recruited by Mar-Vell (Jude Law) to join his intergalactic superhero team. I could be wrong and they go through her origin as a flashback and that why we see Danvers and Mar-Vell together on screen?

What do you think and are you bothered if they change it anyway? Sound off in the usual place below.
