Hawkeye: Hailee Steinfeld Has Reportedly Signed On To The Marvel Studios Disney+ Series | LRM’s Barside Buzz

First Hawkeye Trailer

The Hawkeye series may have locked down Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s Hailee Steinfeld.

Marvel Studios has reportedly locked down another talented actor for their universe. This isn’t coming too much out of left field, but it is a nice bit of news to see. According to The Illuminerdi, Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld has officially signed on the dotted line for the Hawkeye Disney+ series. She will be taking on the role of Kate Bishop, who — as you might guess — takes on the mantle of Hawkeye in the comics.

Marvel Studios is aiming for a production start this coming October. The story will follow Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he mentors a new marksman in the form of Kate. While it’s not confirmed, it’s believed Steinfeld’s version of Kate Bishop will be based on Matt Fraction’s comic run in 2012. Between Kate, Spider-Man, Kamala Khan, among others gaining steam in the MCU, it seems only a matter of time before we get a Young Avengers movie.

It’s been a bit of a windy road for Steinfeld to take on this role. While she was initially rumored for the role last September, Steinfeld indicated late that her responsibilities to Apple TV+ and Dickinson would be her priority. In the midst of the pandemic, it looks as though the scheduling stars have aligned, allowing her to take on this role.

Steinfeld is no stranger to the superhero world. Just a couple of years back, she played Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, to great acclaim. Plus, her experience in Bumblebee proves she can also hold her own in an action film.
