We’ve all watched the trailers for Avengers: Infinity War, and there has been one suspicious archer who’s been missing from all the marketing in virtually every form: Hawkeye. So what’s the deal with the guy? Has Marvel Studios finally given up on the dude and relegated him to the sidelines?

It doesn’t sound like it. As we reported last week, the character is on a journey of his own in this film. Whether or not that means he’ll have less or more screen time than the other heroes is up in the air, but it still sounds like he’ll have a part to play. But does this mean we’ll get to see other fun bow and arrow-related gadgets?

Speaking with Screen Rant, The Russo Brothers revealed that Hawkeye’s arsenal will actually extend beyond his normal stuff.

“Hawkeye’s getting a lot of cool new stuff…We’re developing a lot of interesting new stuff for him… both in something bow-related but some new gadgets that he has in addition to the bow.”

Comic book fans know what this could mean. For the past several months (since we’ve seen set images of a Hawkeye sporting a new do on set), fans have speculated that Clint Barton could take on the name Ronin in this film. It would follow the mythology set by the comics and would be a natural progression from the events in Civil War.

Do these comments from the Russos all but confirm that he’ll be slowly expanding beyond the bow and arrow while he takes on that new name? Of course, we don’t know yet, but it’s sure a hell of a lot of fun to speculate.
