HBO Gives Series Order To New Game Of Thrones Sequel & Begins Production On Season 2 Of House Of The Dragon

HBO has announced today that they have given a series order to the drama series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”. A prequel to the hit series “Game of Thrones”. This happened Wednesday during Warner Bros. Discovery’s unveiling of the Max streaming service in Los Angeles.

The “Game of Thrones” prequel series will be written and executive produced by George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker. Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis will also executive produce.

A century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Also announced in the world of “Game of Thrones” is the beginning of production of the HBO Original drama series, “House of the Dragon”. This is taking place at Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom. The series is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones” telling the story of House Targaryen. It is based on Martin’s “Fire & Blood”.

“House of the Dragon has returned. We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera. All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store,” said Ryan Condal, Co-Creator/Showrunner/Executive Producer.

Season two cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Additional returning cast includes Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.

The first season of “House of the Dragon” can be seen now on HBO Max.
