HBO Max Green Lantern Series Finds It’s Showrunner In Seth Grahame-Smith

Green Lantern

The Green Lantern Corps is a huge part of the DC Universe. Unfortunately, their attempt at a film back in 2011 is still the topic of bad movie jokes for the star of the film, Ryan Reynolds. Over and over again we have been teased with Laterns and left in darkness. HBO Max has hoped to change that with their upcoming Green Lantern series.

Today via The Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that they have added another piece to their production puzzle. Seth Grahame-Smith will be the showrunner for the Green Lantern series. He wrote the novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Then was the screenwriter for films like The Lego Batman Movie. He will also co-write the first episode with Marc Guggenheim, who is the co-creator of shows like Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

Here is what we know so far about Green Lantern. It will be a 10 episode, one-hour drama. It has been described as a saga spanning decades and galaxies and will feature a variety of Lanterns. They are going to focus on Lanterns like fan-favorite Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and the original Lantern Alan Scott. Three of the best known Green Lanterns Hal Jordan, Kyle Raynor, and John Stewart will not be part of the series. As for some non-human Lanterns, we can expect another fan-favorite Kilowog and the former Green Lantern turned Yellow, Sinestro.

The series comes from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. It has been rumored that this series may be the most expensive coming from Berlanti. Currently, the production team is busy breaking down the story. Then depending on directors and casting, could be in production sometime in the middle of next year.

I am very excited to see a Green Lantern series. I thought that the film nine years ago had all the right ingredients visually and in casting. But the plot was horrible. Hopefully, DC and Berlanti have learned from their past mistakes. What I want to know from everyone, is who would you cast as the Lanterns mentioned above? Let us know in the comment section below!
