The early days of the DC Extended Universe certainly had its share of missteps. However, casting Henry Cavill as Superman was not one the. This is one aspect that I’ve always felt they completely nailed, While recent articles have reported that Cavill is in talks to return as the Man of Steel, I don’t believe there’s been any official confirmation.
As far as returning ss the character, Cavill is all in, for the long haul if he given the opportunity. The actor recently spoke with Variety and gave his thoughts on the Superman, what it means to portray him, and his hopes for his future with the character. “I’ve always been a fan of Superman. With a character like that, you carry the mantle with you offset. And it becomes part of your public representation. When you meet children, children don’t necessarily see me as Henry Cavill, but they might see Superman, and there’s a responsibility which comes with that. Because it’s such a wonderful character, it’s actually a responsibility I’m happy to have, and I hope that I get to play more of Superman in years to come.”

Cavill seems to have a strong connection with Supes, and from his comments above clearly considers his relationship more than just an acting job. He seems like a guy DC and WB would want to keep around. Especially with DC heading in what looks to be a much-improved direction. I would also like to see Cavill be part of this and stick around as Superman for the foreseeable future.
