We all remember, Henry Cavill’s mustache, right? It was the mustache that launched a million tweets. It caused a bit of a stir when it was revealed that Paramount wouldn’t allow Cavill to shave his mustache for Justice League‘s additional photography. As a result, Warner Bros. would need to remove it digitally — which wasn’t really ideal for anyone.

The mustache launched yet another million tweets when fans actually got a look at what the final product looked like. Yup, despite our advances in mustache-removing tech, Warner Bros. wasn’t able to convincingly remove the damn thing without it falling into the uncanny valley. This move will forever haunt Justice League, but it was a look that Cavill wore well.

Now, in a new video on Instagram, Cavill says goodbye to the Mission: Impossible – Fallout mustache.

The video starts out with a clean-shaven Henry Cavill addressing us, the viewers. He then reveals, with bittersweet delivery, that yes, the mustache is gone. He hardly recognizes himself in the mirror nowadays, but though it is shaved, it is not forgotten.

Enter the emotional montage of mustache photos — with a photo of him in Justice League thrown in for good measure. Gotta say, it definitely managed to get a couple chuckles out of me. But where will we find the mustacheless Cavill next? Shazam!? Maybe. Just maybe.
