As the thirteenth season of CW’s Supernatural gets closer to its finale, fans wonder what is in store for the Winchester brothers. Both Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean, and Jared Padalecki who plays Sam, both spoke at the premiere of the much anticipated Supernatural and Scooby-Doo crossover, Scoobynatural. The pair gave some insight into what lies ahead for their characters.
Here’s what Jared Padalecki said to an audience at a PaleyFest panel:
“Sam is okay. I think Sam has a problem where he focuses on his failures… it has been part of the archetype all along. We see Sam go to the nth degree this season and really give it all he’s got to try to make the world a better place.”

Jensen Ackles followed with:
“Dean was certainly out of sorts in the beginning. There was a lot of loss in his life and he was at a loss. He didn’t quite know which road to take. Luckily he’s not alone and has his brother to pick him up when he’s down…As we get closer to the end of the season we’ll see Dean step up in a big way.”
While there hasn’t been an official renewal for a fourteenth season, it seems like a given that CW will order at least one more season of the adventures of the Winchester brothers. Originally, the show was planned out for five seasons by creator Eric Kripke and has long surpassed that. The writers of Supernatural have always dug deep into obscure lore to keep the show fresh, and with the Scooby-Doo crossover coming next week, we can only hope that someday, Sam and Dean will meet Mulder and Scully.
