In a recent interview with Square Mile, actor Henry Cavill, who as most of you know plays Superman in the DC extended universe, talked about how Superman killing Zod at the end of Man of Steel could have been a turning point for the character in future films.
“The killing of Zod would have led to a wonderful reason why Superman never kills. Not, he never kills just because his dad said so one day. He made the decision himself because of an impossible scenario, to which he then said, ‘I don’t care if it’s impossible again, I’m gonna find a way to make it possible in the impossible.’”

I like Cavill’s thoughts on Superman’s morality, it shows a much better reason (at least in my opinion) for Superman not to kill his enemies as opposed to the reason being that he is the goody-two-shoes superhero. Cavill recently gave us a timetable for Man of Steel 2, and I won’t spoil the actors joke, but you can read about it in the related section. I still think one of DC’s better decisions was casting Cavill as Superman, and I do hope that get a Man of Steel sequel sooner rather than later.
