According to Entertainment Weekly Henry Thomas of Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House has joined DC Universe’s Stargirl as Dr. Charles Mc.Nider aka Dr. Mid-Nite in a recurring guest star role. His character was created way back in 1941 by Charles Reizenstein and Standley Josephs Aschmeier in DC Comics’ All-American Comics #25.

Known as an introspective surgeon, Dr. Charles McNider was trying to save the life of a key witness set to testify against a crime boss, when an explosion caused by a grenade thrown through the hospital window left him permanently blinded. While recovering he discovered that even though he couldn’t see in the light, he was able to see in the dark. With his trusty owl, Hooty, he acts as the team’s resident doctor and detective.

If you have been watching The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow then the character may seem familiar to you, as his character was introduced as part of the Justice Society of America in season 2 of the series, where he was played by Kwesi Ameyaw. Thomas is best known for playing Elliot in Steven Spielberg’s classic film E.T. He has also been in FX’s Better Things, History’s Sons of Liberty and Netflix’s Gerald’s Game.
