Hocus Pocus sequel brings back the Sanderson sisters.
We still don’t know when or how, but a Hocus Pocus movie is inevitable. In fact, earlier this year, it was confirmed that Hairspray helmer Adam Shankman was attached to direct a Disney+. The report stated that the plan was to reunite stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy for the sequel. However, things have been fairly radio silent in the months since then — almost as if bigger things have happened in the world since then.
However, if you were still concerned that Disney+ was contemplating making a Hocus Pocus sequel with a different cast, rest easy. In a recent interview with Good Day New York, Midler confirmed that the trio was approached for a sequel. She also confirmed that all three of them are game to come back to this celebrated cult classic.

“They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,” said Midler. “I’m game, I’m totally game.”
But who else could return? Could Max and Dani also return in some form? That remains to be seen, but in the age of reboots, I wouldn’t discount anything. As of this writing, it doesn’t seem like any of the other cast is particularly busy with acting gigs. That being said, their lives could very well be busy with other real-life jobs. So you never know what people’s availability will be like.
Regardless, this is all sure to excite fans of Hocus Pocus. Like many of you, I revisit the film almost yearly and have already churned through it for this holiday season. Maybe in two years’ time, we’ll be able to revisit it alongside the Hocus Pocus sequel.
