Hot Rumor: Your Favorite GUARDIAN Will Be A Big Player In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

*Warning! This entire post deals with SPOILER-ish things!*

Many moons ago, while on the phone with a source of mine, we discussed that Chris Pratt was set to appear in the third Avengers movie. This was in early 2014, before Guardians of The Galaxy had even come out and helped make Pratt a household name; And it was way before Jurassic World cemented him as a box office champ. I remember thinking, at the time, that it seemed sort of obvious that Pratt’s Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, would appear in the film since we knew that all of Marvel’s movies were interconnected. What I wasn’t sure of was how big a role he would have.

Let’s fast forward two years and take a look at the landscape, shall we?

Guardians of The Galaxy ended up being a big hit and a pleasant surprise for fans, critics, and analysts the world over. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to expand in new and interesting directions, with supernatural powers and alternate dimensions now entering the fray thanks to projects like Doctor Strange, and the cosmic ties to our earthbound heroes are going to increase tenfold when Avengers: Infinity War comes out in 2018.

So what does this mean for the eventual meeting between The Avengers and the Guardians of The Galaxy? According to a new rumor that’s sweeping the internet, it means that Star-Lord is going to be the man to help unite the teams.

In a new report from Schmoes Know, we’ve learned that Pratt’s role in Avengers: Infinity War is going to be a sizable one. Their sources are describing Quill as a major player in the storyline for the third Avengers flick, and that opens up all kinds of possibilities. Seeing as how he was born on earth, perhaps Quill comes here ahead of his Guardians comrades to warn us all about an impending attack by Thanos and his forces? Maybe Thor brings the rest of the Avengers into space to deal with something he discovers in Thor: Ragnarok and they bump into Star-Lord, who has a crucial piece of intel?

Regardless, it’s interesting to hear that Pratt will be a big part of Avengers: Infinity War. I’m sure fans would love to see him in a battle of wits with Tony Stark, or talk music with Steve Rogers (who only knows oldies). On a more nostalgic note, it could be pretty powerful to see Quill return to earth- a home he’s never known- where he lost his mother, and do everything in his power to protect it from the outside forces he encountered in the cosmos.

And the dialogue writes itself.

Oh, you guys protect the earth? That’s cool. We protect the galaxy.

As of now, there’s no word on whether the Guardians of The Galaxy, as a unit, will appear much in Avengers: Infinity War. So that part remains to be seen.

What do you think? You excited to hear that Star-Lord will be a big part of Avengers: Infinity War?
