Hourman Cast for DC Universe’s Stargirl

Looks like there is lots of casting news out of the DC Universe these last few days. Ian Ziering was cast as Blue Devil for the Swamp Thing series on their streaming service. Stargirl has also made some additions, Joel McHale was cast as Starman and Brian Stapf was cast as Wildcat. But it looks like another addition to that cast has been made.

According to TV Line, Stargirl has added Lou Ferrigno Jr. as the Golden Age superhero Rex Tyler aka Hourman. His character is a master chemist and adrenaline junkie who accidentally discovered a miracle drug he called Miraclo that gave him super strength, speed and durability for an hour a day. He is also one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America. He first appeared in DC Comics’ Adventure Comics #48 in 1940 and was created by Ken Fitch and Bernard Bailey. His character has previously also appeared in The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, where he was played by Patrick J. Adams for a few episodes.

Ferrigno Jr., son of The Incredible Hulk’s Lou Ferrigno, had a recurring role on S.W.A.T. and also has been seen on 9-1-1, NCIS: Los Angeles, Bones and How I Met Your Mother. Along with McHale and Brec Bassinger, he joins Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal and Christopher James Baker who’s roles are currently undisclosed.

DC Universe’s Stargirl is a series based on characters from DC Comics that were created by Geoff Johns. It follows sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop villains from the past. Johns will serve as a writer as well as an executive producer along with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
