House Of Cards Showrunner Heading To TNT

Frank Pugliese has spent the last two years as one-half of the team running Netflix’s House Of Cards. He and Melissa James Gibson spent Seasons 3-5 as executive producers and showrunners, developing the rollercoaster “union” of Frank and Claire Underwood on one of the streaming service’s first original programs. After season 5, the two have gone their separate ways and Pugliese has found a new home for his creative direction: TNT.

Pugliese has signed on as showrunner and executive producer of TNT’s The Angel Of Darkness, the sequel series to the cable network’s acclaimed series The Alienist. Pugliese had this to say to Variety regarding the new gig:

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with the talented cast, crew and team that brought The Alienist to life. Myself and the writers coming on board for The Angel Of Darkness are looking forward to continuing this story born from the wondrous imagination of Caleb Carr.”

Pugliese’s resume includes his work on Night Of The Living Dead, Homicide, Love And Blood, Fallen Angels and Law & Order. He will be joining alongside T. Eric Roth, Steve Golin, Rosalie Swedlin, and Cary Joji Fukunaga in creating the vision-based off of author Caleb Carr’s novel. TNT’s executive vice president of original programming Sarah Aubrey had the following to say regarding signing Pugliese:

“Following the tremendous success of The Alienist, we are excited to welcome an immensely talented and accomplished showrunner who could not only do justice to Caleb Carr’s popular sequel but also add a unique point of view. With Frank, we have found a three-time Emmy Award nominee whose unique skills will surely catapult The Angel of Darkness to the same heights of success as its predecessor.”

No word yet as to when The Angel Of Darkness will air.
